A special aide to former president John Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari has described his newly selected running mate, Professor Jane Naana Agyemang as "a distinguished female leader."
Speaking today on Newsfile, Mrs. Joyce Bawa expressed her extreme satisfaction at the party's choice, adding that Professor Opoku-Agyemang's repertoire as a seasoned educationist speaks for itself.
"Professor Naana is an individual who has distinguished herself in her own right. A scholar of many years, an educator of educators, a distinguished woman with demonstrable leadership qualities.
"We sometimes forget that at the time where Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang was selected to be the running mate of the NDC, she had had an illustrious career as a trainer of trainers, as a teacher, as a lecturer, as the very first female Vice-Chancellor of a public university here in Ghana," she told host Samson Lardy Ayenini.
She added that the professor brought not only excellent leadership qualities, but also, a depth of knowledge, wisdom, and above all a passion for the nation's development.
She stated, "Samson, unlike most of us, who have simply managed our small businesses as entrepreneurs and all, this is an individual who has managed a huge institution.
"She is a God-fearing woman, a Methodist, a mother, a grandmother, and everybody's teacher and friend."
She also revealed that Professor Opoku-Agyemang's selection by the party came after several hours of consultations and prayers, and believes that her nomination serves as a clarion call to women nationwide; inviting them to venture into politics and to aim at participating at the highest level of governance in the country.
