Ghanaians on social media are reacting to the news of the former Trade Minister breaking away from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
John Alan Kyerematen resigned from the party on Monday, September 25, and will contest the 2024 election as an independent presidential candidate.
The name of his new party is 'Movement For Change,' with the motto, 'Ghana Will Rise Again.'
At the event in Accra, he explained that the decision "to contest as an Independent Candidate will not destroy the Party, but instead provide the Party an opportunity to participate in a Government of National Unity in the future, and avoid the risk of going into opposition with no dividends, in what arguably will be a difficult general election in 2024."
This development has stoked conversation on social media.

I don’t know why but I have a feeling this could be the 3rd force we’ve been looking for.

But Alan has and will always be a part of what’s happening to us!!! Trust me, I really don’t see him giving us anything better than what Addo D has given us!!

This is my opinion.
In short, Alan K wants us to believe that majority of Ghanaians want him to be President but the NPP is against him.

I truly can’t blame Alan for the position he’s been in. But one thing I know is, we need a new reform, we need a new party. We can’t toggle between only the two devils. Mahama, bawumia or Ken do NOT DESERVE IT
