Michael Addo Kumi, a 24-year-old mechanic apprentice, was remanded by the Asamankese circuit court for assaulting his father and threatening him with death.
The suspect, who pleaded not guilty, would reappear in court on April 6.
Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri, told the court that on March 21, the complainant, Frederick Kofi Kumi, approached the accused and demanded GH¢2 he had borrowed from him.
Prosecution said the accused was not able to refund the money and
at about 1330 hours on the same day Addo returned from Mepom where he lived and on seeing his father at home became furious.
Chief Insp. Ogyiri said Addo held his father’s shirt and pinned him to a wall, slapped his face a number of times, tore his shirt and said the father did not look after him during his childhood.
Prosecution said the following day Addo wielded a sharp cutlass and threatened to kill his father.
Chief Insp. Ogyiri said a witness in the case shouted for help and that attracted some people who took the cutlass from Addo and the father was advised to leave the house.
The accused told the court that though he assaulted the father he did not threaten to kill him with a cutlass.
