The 1997 Year Group of the St. Rose’s Senior High School Old Students Association (ROSA) on Saturday June 30, 2018 presented 116 wardrobe units valued at GHS27,600.00 to their alma mater in Akwatia.
The gesture is aimed at enabling students store their personal belongings in a more secure place.
Presenting the items on behalf of the group, Mrs. Cynthia Kwabi, President of the group informed the school authorities the donation was fulfilment of a pledge the 1997 Year Group committed to in 2017, support their alma mater by constructing 200 wardrobe units for the school in commemoration of the Group’s 20th Anniversary celebration.
Mrs. Kwabi stated that in the wake of increasing student intake, the group deemed it necessary to assist with the developmental needs of the school in order to improve the living conditions of present and future students.
She expressed the Group’s appreciation to all who had supported the project and appealed to the students to take care of the wardrobes for the benefit of future students.
Ms. Marian Esi Jackson, Headmistress of the school, who received the items thanked the old students for their kind gesture and assured them of the school’s commitment to ensuring the longevity of the wardrobes.
The Group’s fundraising efforts for the anniversary project commenced in July 2017, with a Family Fun Day event that enjoyed sponsorship from Blue Skies Co. Ltd. and Databank. Media partners for the event were Joy FM, Citi FM and Radio Gold.
Proceeds from the gate fee and sale of food and drinks at the event were ploughed back into the project. Other sources of funding included donations from members of the year group, individuals and corporate organisations such as Allied Oil Co. Ltd.
