Director of Operations at the Castle, Nii Lante Vanderpuiye has said that he is not aware that the bungalow he is occupying has been awarded to Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey via a Supreme Court ruling on Tuesday. Nii Lante, also the ruling National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for Odododiodoo constituency, was speaking on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday. The aspiring MP said as far as he was concerned, the Ministry of Works and Housing that allocated the bungalow to him told him the transaction to hand over the property to the New Patriotic Party chairman has been revoked. The bungalow, located on No.2 South Mungo Street, Ridge, Accra, was the subject of a legal tussle as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and his colleague Deputy Minister of Information, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa dragged Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey to court, accusing him of conflict of interest, corruption and abuse of office in his attempt to purchase the said property. But the Supreme Court on Tuesday returned a 6:3 verdict, dismissing the case on the grounds that the plaintiffs failed to prove their allegations of abuse of office, corruption and conflict of interest against the respondent. Nii Lante Vanderpuiye who is the current occupant of the said bungalow revealed that since the Supreme Court did not give him the bungalow they have no right in telling him to vacate the premises. The Director of Operations at the Presidency argued that the least the erstwhile Kufuor government could have done if it did not need the land any longer was to revert it to the Gas who he said are the custodians of the property. But when the host of the programme, Kojo Asare Baffuor Acheampong prompted him that Mr. Obestebi Lamptey is also a Ga, Nii Lante Vanderpuiye questioned whether the NPP Chairman can even speak Ga. He further stated that as far as he is concerned, Mr. Obetsebi Lamptey could have 'bought' his Ga name, besides he had not seen Jake's fair complexion among any Ga family. Nii Lante Vanderpuiye re-emphasized his unwillingness to vacate the premises and advised the New Patriotic Party Chairman to go for a refund of monies he may have paid in his attempt to acquire the property.
