Executives of the Tertiary Education Students Conference (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the three northern regions have expressed displeasure about “the current behavior of the party leadership.”
The Upper East, Upper West and Northern regions’ chapters of TESCON alleged that for the past three years leadership of the NPP had been disassociating itself from activities of TESCON thereby creating communication gap between TESCON and their regional executives.
The executives alleged that the leadership did not bother to find out the challenges of TESCON in institutions in the three northern regions and that TESCON was never involved in any decision-making.
The northern sector executives of TESCON expressed this at a day’s conference held at Navrongo to affirm their support for the party in the 2012 general elections.
Mr. Kwasi Atuahene, president of the Saint John Bosco’s College of Education chapter who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, blamed the National Youth Organizer of the party for being the cause of the problem and said he had occasionally put up insulting behavior towards members and executives of TESCON.
He said the NPP might lose the 2012 election as a result of the Youth Organiser’s inability to organize the youth and other executives in the three northern regions.
The Member of Parliament for the Navrongo Central, Mr. Joseph Kofi Adda, said the party was committed to promoting the development of Ghanaian and that there was the need to bring the party back to power so that it could execute these plans.
Mr. John Ndebuguri, former MP for Zebilla, called for the support of the youth in order to bring the NPP back to power and assured TESCON executives that their grievances would be looked at and addressed.
