The Government says the unstable situation in Libya and logistical constraints are posing challenges to the evacuation plan being implemented.
Foreign Minister Alhaji Mohammad Mumuni told parliament Wednesday that everything is being done to evacuate Ghanaians from harm’s way.
Alhaji Mumuni revealed that three persons caught in crossfire in troubled Libya sustained gunshot wounds.
He was answering an urgent question in parliament about efforts to evacuate Ghanaians in Libya.
He told the MPs so far about 150 Ghanaians have been evacuated back home.
According to him evacuating the over 10,000 Ghanaians has been difficult because of the instability and logistical constraints.
Alhaji Mumuni said the process has been made even more difficult because “our nationals are mostly undocumented illegal migrants who even in normal circumstances are compelled to hide from the law to undertake various odd jobs – some in very remote towns and villages in Libya’s vast but mostly desolate territory.”
