The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has issued a final caution to traders occupying streets, medians and other unauthorized spaces in the Central Business District to cease their operations effective Monday, May 5, 2025.
It follows a series of cautions from the assembly against indiscriminate trading activities that have since congested the market area.
In a statement, the KMA advised the traders to “cease forthwith” as it works to ensure easy movement of humans and vehicles.
“This comes as a reminder of the deadline of May 1, 2025 issued earlier for such traders to voluntarily move their wares, metal objects, tables, etc. from the streets,” the portions of the statement read.
Motorists have also been cautioned to desist from parking in the Central Business District CBD as well as those who ply their trade in vehicles.
The affected areas include Adum, Kejetia, Pampaso, Dr. Mensah, around Zoo, Dunkirk, Roman Hill, around Kejetia Market, Adehyeman, and Alarba.
“From May 5, 2025, trading in the streets and other unauthorized areas of the Central Business District CBD is prohibited,” the statement read.
The traders are thus expected to remove wooden and metal structures from their trading points as directed.
The KMA is urging all traders to comply fully with the directives to avoid forced ejection.
