Nigerian music sensation, Tuface Idibia has filed a 100 million Naira (about $615,000) libel suit against weekly magazine, Icon Weekly.
L & A Legal Consultants, according to Nigerian blogger Linda Ikeji, has filed libel proceedings on behalf of the musician at the Ikeja High Court, Lagos, Nigeria.
His lawyers have asked the court to award the artiste the sum of N100million being damages for the libelous publication posted on the magazine’s online and print platforms.
Linda Ikeji reported that, in March this year, the magazine alleged that Tuface committed adultery by impregnating a 'Lagos top banker' who is supposedly his account officer.
The magazine alleged that the lady is in one of Nigeria's big banks and the lady had every intention of keeping the baby. An allegation Tuface vehemently denied.
According to the Nigerian blogger, "a source close to the musician said the story, which was found to be false, made Tuface lose a very lucrative deal and caused ripples between him and his wife."
Icon Weekly, according to reports, is said to have approached management of the award winning musician for discussions for a possible out of court settlement.
