Two Ghanaian entrepreneurs, Kwame Acheampong and Elkin Pianim, through their online platform Mogoogi, have sealed a deal with premium British brand Austin Reed.
The British international fashion company, which was looking to expanding into Ghana and Africa, were impressed with the work of Mogoogi and therefore choose them to achieve their goals.
The two entrepreneurs, who experienced first-hand the difficulties of getting quality and value when shopping in Africa, have over time managed to grow their business successfully and are now expanding their business in Nigeria and hopes to later expand to other parts of Africa.
By adopting the popular ‘click & collect’ model, Mogoogi makes it possible for consumers to buy online and collect their purchases from select locations in Accra and Lagos, Nigeria.
Austin Reed, a quintessential British brand epitomising luxury and British tailoring, recognises the rise of the African consumer and has teamed up with Mogoogi to ensure that African shoppers can now have a secure and convenient online experience.
Julie Slaymaker, Austin Reed’s Group Ecommerce Director, said in a statement that, “The Austin Reed brand is recognised for quality tailoring and design innovation that merges modern and classic styling.”
“Our casual and formal wear is aimed at successful men and women with the mind-set of a ‘thirty-something’ and we are keen to capture that audience in Ghana and across Africa.”
Austin Reed’s Web Trading Manager, David Abel, comments further: “Our international business is growing rapidly and we know from our stores the Austin Reed brand is enormously popular with African consumers. Mogoogi.com provides the ideal vehicle for delivering a great online experience to our customers in sub-Saharan Africa.”
Mogoogi’s Marketing Director, Annabelle Mu’azu, added: “There is significant demand in sub-Saharan Africa for quality products. Our mall is the perfect way to offer consumers real choice and great value, with the security of paying through a FCA regulated gateway. We’re delighted to be launching with Austin Reed, a much loved British brand.”
