A magistrate's court at Mankranso has remanded two farmers of Asuadei in the Ahafo-Ano South District for stealing a sheep valued at 400,000 cedis.
Kwame Owusu-Ansah, 23 and Mutala Mohammed, 22, pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on May 8.
Police Inspector Abraham Agyei-Mensah told the court presided over by Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on April 12, this year at about 1800 hours, the complainant, Mallam Abubakar detected the loss of the sheep from his pen.
He said the following day the complainant spotted Owusu-Ansah heading towards the bush with a cutlass in hand and followed him on suspicion.
The prosecution said the complainant after tracing the accused to the bush smelt the scent of roasting meat and returned home to inform his children.
Inspector Agyei-Mensah said the complainant later identified the head of the roasted sheep to be his and informed the Unit Committee members who arrested the accused and handed him over to the police.
During interrogation, Owusu-Ansah admitted the offence and mentioned Mohammed as his accomplice who was also arrested.
