Some students at the Department of Information Studies of the Faculty of Social Studies of the University of Ghana Legon, are expressing worry over the difficulty they go through in their practical studies as a result of the inadequate ICT laboratories, coupled with the lack of computers.
Speaking in an interview with JOY NEWS some of the students expressed worry that the one hour practical session a week is woefully inadequate.
The Department of Information Studies of the University of Ghana plays host to more than two thousand students. Each student gets the chance to visit one of two ICT laboratories once every week, and receives one hour practical tuition.
Dr. Perpetual Dadzie the Head of Department responded saying authorities acknowledge the difficulty the students go through in their practicals, hence relying on support from various public and private organizations.
Dr. Dadzie admitted the situation is not the best, but believes the situation would improve as they have received some support from institutions such as the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication; GIFEC, in the provision of some twenty sets of computers and other accessories.
