The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a rallying call for the supporters of the party to unite as that will win them power in the December polls.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia said although some people are not happy with some decisions that were taken by the leadership of the party, now is not the time to move with a divided front.
Speaking at the outdooring of John Mahama's running mate, Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang at the University of Professional Studies Accra, Monday, he urged members of the party to focus on the team winning and not taking personal glory for something they might have done.
“If we are united and determined to make a change in our circumstances, it shall be. But we cannot win an election with a divided front. I’ll like to urge everybody who wants to see a change to let us close our ranks,” the man popularly known as General Mosquito said.
Mr Asiedu Nketia said instead of bickering and disagreeing, all hands must be on deck as the party wrestles power from the Akufo-Addo government.
“I want to urge anybody who wants to see a change to let us close our rank...as an organisation, a decision may be taken anyway and it is not possible for decisions to be taken that satisfy everybody.
"What is important is that the decision must satisfy the greatest number of our party members. So after a decision has been taken our duty is to close our ranks, rally around our leadership and make sure that the mission of rescuing Ghana is accomplished.
"This is the time for party members to collectively take ownership of the future John Mahama government..if we all sit aside and expect that president Mahama and Jane will have some magic to perform to bring to bring us to power, eventually when the power comes the government is going to be John Mahama and Jane's government,” he added.
