Authorities of the All Nations University in Koforidua in the Eastern Region have dismissed reports suggesting a 17-year-old boy who was found dead, early Wednesday fell from the third floor of the school building.
The Public Relations Officer of the School, Owusu Acheampong told Joy News until an autopsy report proves that the deceased died as a result of a fall from the building, the cause of the student’s death remains unknown.
Media reports suggested that a Level 100 Oil and Gas student named only as Darlington Foakye fell to his death from the third floor of a hostel in the school.
It was the second of such unfortunate death in the school this year, the reports indicated. One Benedicta Nana Esi Aidoo, 22, fell from the top floor of the school’s city campus storey building during a prayer session with about twenty other students in March this year.
Benedicta, a level 200 Business Administration student fell from the edge of the 'rooftop' and onto a stationary truck.
But the school authorities told Joy News' Eastern Region correspondent Kofi Siaw until an autopsy is conducted it cannot be said that Darlington crashed to his death from the third floor of the hostel.
Owusu Acheamfuor said “the Police have come for the body and we are waiting for the report, but until then, the news that Mr Darlington fell from the building is untrue.”
He added that it will be too quick to also say that some assailants had strangled the student to death because there are enough security personnel in and around the school’s campuses and hostels.
“It is quite unfortunate. What happened earlier this year made us tighten up security in the school,” he added.
