A 12-year-old boy is receiving medical treatment after reportedly being attacked by his mother at Adeemera Electoral Area in the Afram Plains North District of the Eastern region.
The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Mavis Vinyo, a matron at St. Mary’s Vocational Institute in Donkorkrom, allegedly became angry when her son picked up her mobile phone to play music while she was cooking.
In the incident, the woman is said to have struck the boy on the head with a cutlass, causing serious injuries. The child was rushed to Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital by a security officer who was on duty at the time.
Authorities have since been alerted to the case, and Ms Vinyo has been arrested. Police are expected to arraign her in court in the coming days.
The motive for the attack appears linked to the dispute over the mobile phone, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
