Police have arrested 26 people in a dawn swoop in the volatile Upper East Region towns of Namoo and Tindongo.
The swoop is to avert further violent clashes between residents in the two communities.
Four people have been killed in clashes between the two communities with many sustaining varying degrees of injuries. The clashes were triggered by a land dispute.
Upper East Regional Police Commander DCOP Bright Oduro told Joy News uneasy calm has returned to the area after the dawn swoop.
According to him, guns, cudgels, machetes, bows and arrows and other deadly weapons used in the clashes were retrieved in the dawn swoop.
According to him, the men in the two communities have deserted their homes leaving behind women and children.
He said the men fled fearing they will be arrested by the police.
The Regional Security Command has visited the two communities to assess the extent of damage.
DCOP Oduro who was part of the command confirmed four people had died in the conflict which started Tuesday dawn.
Eleven others were severely wounded with six said to be at the intensive care unit of the Bolgatanga hospital.
Several houses were torched, he noted.
He said the military and police personnel will be stationed in the area until REGSEC is convinced total peace has returned to the area.
