Upper West Regional police commander, DCOP Kofi Danso Adei-Acheampong has commended security officers in the region for their hard work in the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
He said it is through their efforts, efficiency, cooperation and hard work that ensured a peaceful and successful elections.
DCOP Acheampong made the statement shortly after a route march organized in conjunction with sister security agencies on Thursday.
Over 250 security men mainly drawn from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and Prisons Service took part in the route march.
He said the aim of the route march is in two folds.
"It is to awaken the energy in us so that we can be very effective in the performance of our duties and also to show to the general public their preparedness to provide maximum security for the citizenry at any material time be it day, night, rain or shine".
DCOP assured the public that their security, lives and property is their utmost concern and will never play with them.
"The people of Ghana shall always be protected, rain or shine", he added.
He urged the security officers to try and be more effective more efficient and more patient in the discharge of their duties this year than last year so that they can improve their score of 85% last year to 100% this year.
