Aiming to better serve the high demand for student visas in Ghana, the U.S. Embassy has scheduled Wednesdays to offer interviews to qualified applicants for F-1 student visas and J-1 academic/research visitor visas. A press statement issued by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Accra announced that every Wednesday, starting from May 5 to September 15 this year, applicants for student visas would not be required to book interviews through the online appointment system. “Instead, applicants for F-1 student visas and J-1 academic/research visas may schedule their visa interview appointments in advance on a walk-in basis with the U.S. Embassy Consular Section”, the release directed. To schedule a student visa interview, it noted that applicants ought to appear in person at the Consular Section, “any Wednesday from March 3 to April 28 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students must submit copies of their form I-20 and passport biographic data page, as well as a valid email address”. Based on this, students would then receive a ticket with the visa interview date and time while stressing that students should not submit more than one application. “Duplicate applications or applications for more than one appointment will result in the cancellation of any previously scheduled appointment”, it added. It said “applicants for J-1 summer work/travel visas are not eligible to participate in this walk-in program. Summer/work travel applicants must schedule visa interview appointments online at http://ghana.usembassy.gov”. Moreover, students renewing their F-1 visas, the press statement, mentioned, may continue to renew their visas on a walk-in basis any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at 1:30 p.m. “Students are expected to appear on their appointed interview date on time with all necessary documents. It is not possible to reschedule missed appointments”, it concluded. Credit: Nathaniel Yankson/nayank80.blogspot.com
