Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has called on Ghana’s friendly nations to invest in the country's economy.
He said co-operation between Ghana and its foreign collaborators should move away from state to state collaboration for more engagement of the private sector in the economy to arrive at the needed stability.
While expressing gratitude to the partnership that had existed between Ghana and other nations, the Vice President expressed the need for nations to take advantage of evolving global trends for better economic alliances and cooperation that would inure to mutual benefits and create better lives for all.
Vice President Amissah- Arthur made the point when he met with Mr Jan Kohout, Foreign Affairs Minister for the Czech Republic at the Flag Staff in Accra. Mr Kohout is leading a 24-member business and diplomatic delegation on a four- nation African tour.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur lauded relations with Czech and called for deepening of private participation and foreign direct investment in Ghana’s economy. He urged Ghana’s collaborators to take advantage of the country’s stable political environment and the growing economy, which is leading in West Africa.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur said Ghana’s economy is growing between seven and eight per cent per annum, and suggested to the Czech Republic and other friendly nations to take advantage of the strong governance system to forge partnership that would bring about a “first class economy.”
Describing Ghana as “rich empire of West Africa”, Mr Kohout lauded the relations between Accra and Prague and spoke of the interest of his country in the areas of economic diplomacy, agribusiness, food processing and security among others.
“We are encouraged by the good and friendly relations,” Mr Kohout said, adding that the Czech Republic is ready to broaden the dialogue it has with Ghana.
