President Akufo-Addo has said an agreement has been reached by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) should withdraw the "three controversial" amendments.
Speaking at the party's extraordinary delegates conference in Kumasi on Sunday, he said the amendments to bar party members with dual citizenship from holding party office and contest elections, will be disastrous.
"It will lead to the collapse of our overseas branches and it is not constitutional," said.
The President who said he is aware the problems that amendment is good seeks to cure but wants it to be dealt with in another manner.
