The entire executives of the Wa Central Constituency of the NDC in the Upper West Region, have declared their support for the candidature of President J.E.A Mills as the candidate for the NDC for the 2012 general elections.
A release signed by Constituency Secretary, Khalid Abdul-Rahman noted; “we have come to this conclusion owing to the sterling performance of the President and the current NDC government; within two years and in spite of the difficulty the current government came to meet in office, the President has demonstrated that he is really committed to delivering the better Ghana agenda that got the NDC elected into power in the 2008 elections.”
The statement said the current NDC government has expanded the freedoms of Ghanaians and broadened the spheres of the rule of law.
“We are currently witnesses to an unprecedented infrastructural development taking place in the entire country, and the government has also significantly improved on the economy and the socio-economic circumstances of the people."
According to the executives, with a little less than two years to end his current term, the President has worked enough to justify his re-election for another four year term to continue his Better Ghana Agenda.
“We believe in democracy and competitive politics but we are confident, the NDC and Ghana stand a better chance when Prof. John Evans Atta Mills is given the opportunity to serve two terms, we will actively campaign and support him to win the flagbearership of the NDC in Sunyani in July; we are by this statement asking all NDC members; especially delegates who will be voting in the elections to vote for Prof. John Evans Atta Mills,” the statement said.
