It is more than 12 hours since voting ended in 47 Districts spread across four regions in the country, to decide the creation of six new administrative regions.
All the results have not been declared yet but save any sudden change of trend, all the six proposed regions will see the light of day.
The proposed Oti region which is expected to be carved out of the northern part of the Volta region, has seen the most controversy.
However, at the end of voting Thursday, 98.64 per cent of registered voters who reside in the area voted in favour of the creation of the Oti region out of the Volta region.
Tur nout also exceeded the minimum 50 per cent threshold of as 88.31 per cent out of the total voter population voted.
A total of 323,708 voted out of the total registered voter population of 366,545.

Their counterparts in the southern part, fiercely resisted the “splitting” of the region. And scores of people in Akpafu township which is in the proposed Oti region, resisted being added to the new region.
But the provisional figures have shown a different result; massive endorsement throughout. In the Jasikan District, a total of 39,360 votes were recorded out of a total of 40,566 voters.
As many as 38, 915 voted Yes and a paltry 310 voted No.
In Hohoe District where there was low voter turnout in areas like Akpafu, only 10,619 of the 21,367 registered voters (in the Sandrofi, Akpafu, Lolobi, Lille) turned out. Out of that, 9,427 endorsed creation while quite a significant 1,125 voted against it.
