Founder and CEO of Design and Technology Institute, Constance Elizabeth Swaniker has indicated that the Ghanaian educational curriculum needs to be reviewed because it is more theoretical than practical.
Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday, she explained that young people are always crying that there are no jobs yet there are jobs.
However, "these jobs mostly require technical know-how which most young people are not efficient in", Ms Swaniker added.
"Employers are not hiring and looking at your CVs, they're looking at hiring attitude and skills," she said.
Madam Swaniker explained that the industry demands are so rapid and therefore there is a need for an agile curriculum that will meet these demands.
She added that usually, a lot of engineering students in the universities wear their white coats but they are less exposed to the practical side of their study.
"If you're an engineer I expect you to go on to the site if you're doing road construction, roll up the white overcoat and get into the gutters and learn how to build gutters, we don't build gutters looking at working drawings in books," she stated.
The CEO believes that transitioning young people into the world of work should begin at the Junior High level where young people have an idea of what they want to be.
