Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reflected on the party’s record in government, acknowledging both successes and shortcomings.
Speaking during the NPP’s ongoing Thank You Tour, Dr Bawumia praised the achievements under the party’s administration but admitted that not every goal had been fully realised. “We had a solid record of achievements, but not everything went right,” he stated candidly.
Addressing a gathering of supporters, Dr Bawumia highlighted key successes, including advancements in digitalisation, infrastructure development, and economic reforms.
He expressed pride in the work the NPP had done to transform the lives of Ghanaians, noting that “the evidence of our progress can be seen in every sector of the economy.”
However, he also pointed out that the realities of governance meant that some aspirations remained unmet, despite their best efforts.
“We are not perfect, and no government is,” Dr Bawumia told the crowd.
He emphasised that challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and global economic pressures had affected the pace of development. Nevertheless, he reassured party faithful that the NPP’s commitment to service and innovation remained unwavering.
“We learned valuable lessons and are better prepared for the future,” he added.
