The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Victor Smith, has said the Regional Security Council would punish anybody who seeks to create problems in the region.
He has therefore appealed to traditional authorities and community leaders in the region to educate the youth against participating in any lawless activities during this political season.
Mr Smith said this when speaking at the Senior Citizens Day celebrations in the region which also marks the 52nd Republic Day Anniversary of the country.
In all 134 senior citizens throughout the region including person nominated by the various political parties were presented with parcels.
He said the country needs peace to develop and called on public servants to give the government the needed support to implement the various developmental programs that it has for the country.
This year’s celebrations saw the active participation of the various paramount chiefs and queen mothers in the region who also participated in the distribution of prices and awards to the senior citizens in the region.
