The trial judge in the controversial Alfred Woyome judgement debt saga is angry with the apathy with which the prosecution is handling the case.
Justice Hanson Ajaat is also questioning the seriousness of the prosecution in a case that has generated huge national interest.
The state is in court to retrieve ¢51 million it said it wrongfully paid to Alfred Woyome in judgement debt but the case has suffered numerous adjournments.
On Tuesday, the state asked for more time in order to present its witnesses before the court.
Joy News’ Sammy Darko, who was present at the court reported the Chief State Attorney as saying the witnesses were outside the jurisdiction of the country and had just arrived.
The prosecutor said the witnesses had vital documents that needed thorough scrutiny and which require more time.
Justice Ajaat grudgingly granted the request by the prosecution but did not hide his displeasure at the snail pace tactics the prosecution was adopting.
Sammy Darko reported the judge as saying he was disappointed and unhappy and admonished the prosecution to take the case seriously.
He was surprised that the prosecution will ask for more time having given the impression it was ready to begin prosecuting the case.
The defence had no objections to the plea for more time.
The case will be heard on July 12 and 13, 2012.
