As part of this year's Y'ello Care initiative, MTN Ghana is highlighting the importance of digital literacy, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI), as technology plays a vital role in development.
The company is conducting digital literacy training in selected Senior High Schools nationwide. This programme aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to harness the power of AI, expanding their opportunities and empowering them to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
MTN Y'ello Care is a corporate social responsibility initiative that mobilizes MTN staff and partners to give back to their communities through volunteer work.
This programme brings together employees and partners to contribute their time and skills to various community development projects, making a positive impact on the lives of others and helping to build a better future for all.

In the Central Region, the staff of MTN engaged students of the Academy of Christ the King Senior High School in Cape Coast, on the importance and disadvantages of artificial intelligence and using AI tools effectively.

Speaking to the media after the programme, the Human Resource Manager of MTN in charge of Southern Ghana, Regina Arkaifie expressed the hope that MTN’s efforts through digital education would equip students to integrate well into the digital world.

“Artificial Intelligence is the theory and development of computer systems that can perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, and decision-making among others”.
Erasmus Mensah Ackon from Duapa Workspace in Takoradi emphasised the need for young people to understand the importance of adapting to the digital space.

“It is important the young ones get to understand the role artificial intelligence so that when they have to choose their career path, they will understand from this stage that they need to consider a career in technology,” he said.
This initiative is part of MTN's broader corporate social responsibility efforts to bridge the digital divide and empower young people with the skills needed for the digital age. The programme focuses on various aspects of digital literacy under MTN’s Y'ello Care initiative.
