The waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has announced plans to go into farming and is in discussion with the Ministry of Food And Agriculture.
According to management of the company, it is in discussion with the ministry to identify areas in the northern part of Ghana, which is suitable for planting. The legal advisor to the Chief Executive Officer of Zoomlion , Mr. Nat Armaah, disclosed this to journalists during a press conference it organized last Thursday at the M Plaza hotel.
He told the reporters that the company's interest would be mechanized agriculture, which they expect to create more job avenues.
Speaking on other matters, Mr. Armaah indicated that the company is non-political and will work with all governments and they are not worried about whichever government will be in power.
Mr. Robert Coleman, the Accra zonal supervisor, said the company has faced problems with the attitude of Ghanaians towards sanitation, explaining that the way out has always been punishment of offenders but that, he said, is the preserve of the assemblies who can prosecute on their byelaws.
The Communication Manager, Mrs. Isabella Gyau Orhin, said the company is still in Angola and other countries, such as Zambia.
With a core staff of 2,400 she said the poor sanitation habits of Ghanaians continue to form the bane of its challenges.
