The 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, powered by Smirnoff, has been officially launched in grand style, themed Shake the Floor.
Luna Rooftop Bar, in the heart of Airport City, last Saturday, July 19, witnessed the epic curtain raiser for the 13th edition of Africa’s biggest DJ event, setting the tone for what promises to be yet another milestone celebration of Ghana’s vibrant DJ culture.

The high-energy launch event, expertly steered by seasoned MCs Jay Foley and Michelle Agyekum, attracted some of the most influential personalities in the creative industry including Gilbert Aggrey a.k.a Abeiku Santana - Deputy CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority, and Mr. Ahumah ‘Daddy Bosco’ Ocansey – Board Member, Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, both of whom delivered keynote addresses.
Other personalities who showed up to confirm their unwavering support for the 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards launch were Fameye, Eddy Blay, Streetbeatz, Mixmaster Garzy, Lali x Lola, OV, Nana Romeo, Kalybos, MC Yaa Yeboah, Influencer Tilly, among others. The presence of these amazing industry players underscored the awards’ stature as Africa’s leading DJ honours scheme, powered by Smirnoff and proudly sponsored by Guinness Ghana.

Reigning Event DJ of the Year, DJ Pho, set the ball rolling on the night with mind-blowing skills on the turn-tables, treating attendees to back-to-back sing-along classics before handing over to DJ Phantom and DJ Sly King, who both elevated the soul of the launch to another altitude. The night also saw music performances from Dancehall artiste Aklerh, Hiplife group Keche and Afrobeat singer Mopthy.
Speaking at the launch, which aired on Joy Prime, organizers Merqury Republic revealed an exciting calendar of activities designed to sustain the buzz ahead of the main event, which is slated for November 29, 2025 at the Palms Convention Center, La - Accra.
Prior to the main event, 6 out of Ghana’s sixteen regions will host the much anticipated Pubfest - Greater Accra Region, Volta Region, Bono Region, Ashanti Region, Western Region and Central region. The Pubfest train is expected to live up to its niche of unearthing some of the nation’s most talented but hidden DJs, connecting and uniting music fans and industry players to their favourite DJs, and most importantly reiterating the DJ’s powerful role as a cultural curator — energizing communities through music, skill, and creativity.

The education of DJs and other stakeholders in the value chain is yet again captured in the 2025 calendar, as Takoradi and Accra host the Ghana DJ Clinic on August 30 and November 27 respectively.
Creative Director and Founder of the scheme, Merqury Quaye mentioned that the 13th edition will feature a Jamaican sound-clash segment on November 29.
Meanwhile, Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Marketing Manager – Spirits & Ready To Drink (RTDS), Guinness Ghana, expressed her “heartfelt gratitude to organizers of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards for their commitment in putting the Ghanaian DJ on the global map”. She further stated that “Guinness Ghana will continue to lead and shape the DJ community in Ghana through the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards festival”

With the launch successfully done and dusted, the journey to crown the best of Ghana’s DJing fraternity has officially begun, and promises many other immersive experiences that spotlight talent and grow the music culture.
