DJ Sly King has finally ascended to the pinnacle of Ghana’s disc jockeying landscape after walking home with the ultimate plaque of the night at the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards 2025, powered by Smirnoff.
Sly King won the coveted DJ of the Year crown at the Palms Convention Center, held on November 29, 2025.

The triumph marks a defining moment in the career of DJ Sly King, who walked into the auditorium with strong expectations of carrying the topmost honour of the 13th Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, themed Shake the Floor.
The new king says he had “been putting in so much work in the year under review” and was hopeful of ending DJ Lord OTB’s two-year reign as DJ of the Year. He emerged a conqueror in a category stuffed with many hardworking DJs including AD DJ, DJ Millzy, TMSKDJ, DJ Vyrusky and DJ Loft.
As part of winning the prestigious DJ of the Year award, DJ Sly King was presented with a brand-new Pioneer DJ DDJ-Rev7 Scratch Style 2 Controller, a prize that was presented by Madam Sabina Manu, Marketing & Innovations Director at Guinness Ghana. It is noteworthy to mention that DJ Sly King was nominated in 7 other categories on a night which celebrated both excellence and evolution within the disc jockeying fraternity in Ghana and beyond.
Many industry colleagues and fans were impressed and excited about Sly King’s victory following his steady rise over the years. Some industry players who spoke to Joy Entertainment attested to his technical mastery and his growing influence on the music scene in the 2024/2025 calendar.
The 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, powered by Smirnoff, witnessed high-energy performances and tightly curated sets, featuring appearances from Medikal, Fameye, Keche, and Lali x Lola. Merqury Quaye, often referred to as “father of all DJs” also took his turn behind the turn-tables to treat patrons and attendees to a mindblowing performance that brought ecstacy to the auditorium. DJ Sonaty and rersident DJ for the night, DJ Pho, also delivered a standout performances that sparked cheers across the auditorium.
The 2025 edition of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, powered by Smirnoff and organized by Merqury Republic, once again underscored its mission to honour DJs who continue to shape the nation’s soundscape.
