Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed frustration at his side’s first-half performance against Nigeria in their 2025 Unity Cup opener.
The Super Eagles capitalized on defensive errors to score twice, and although Brandon Thomas-Asante pulled one back, it proved too little, too late.
“[First half], we were not in it,” Otto Addo said at the post-match conference.
“The goals [conceded] were too easy. We were not compact enough in defense and did not stop the cross, I think we slipped also in the middle, should not happen.
"Nigeria was more aggressive, won a lot of duels, created chances and we were not really there, this was really disappointing.”
Ghana was beyond recognition in the second half, forcing Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali to making two crucial, notably from Thomas Asante and Abu Francis.
The team will now fight for third-place against Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday, May 31 while Nigeria take on Jamaica in the final of the four-nation competition.
