Twelve visually-impaired students at the University of Ghana have benefited from the 2^nd annual Kimathi Kuenyehia Book Grant set up by the Chief Executive Officer of Kimathi and Partners, Mr. Kimathi Kuenyehia. The grant, which covers the expenses of books and other reading materials, was set up following an experience Mr. Kuenyehia had when he was invited as a guest speaker at the 2016 Bachelor of Arts congregation ceremony. 

Mr. Kwasi Danso Amoah, who made the presentation on behalf of Mr. Kimathi Kuenyehia stated that it was the philosophy of Mr. Kuenyehia that people benefit from the company. He reiterated that the grant was set up to motivate the visually-impaired so they do not relent on their studies and to pursue their academic dreams. He encouraged the students to learn hard and emulate the stellar performance of Mr. Abdul-Kudus Bukari, a visually-impaired student who graduated last year, and who was the valedictorian at one of the 2016 Bachelor of Arts Congregation sessions.

In expressing appreciation to Kimathi and Partners, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Godfred Bokpin indicated that the government and the University alone cannot provide all the needs of students. He therefore entreated private individuals and society at large to come on board to lend a helping hand. Prof. Bokpin congratulated the recipients and charged them to leave legacies that they will be remembered for and also serve as a guide for others.

Mrs. Stella A. Amoa, Director of Public Affairs said that it was a joy to see students with special needs excelling in their endeavours. Mrs. Amoa reiterated that the grant was inspired by the excellent performance of Mr. Abdul-Kudus Bukari and consequently charged the beneficiaries to maintain the good standards already set for them. She also charged the recipients to use the monies for its right purpose. Mrs. Amoa used the opportunity to wish the students well and asked them to make their needs known so that they can be addressed appropriately.

Mr. Elvis Donkor Agyei, on behalf of the recipients, expressed profound gratitude to Kimathi and Partners and promised that the monies would be used for its rightful purpose.

Earlier, Dr. Awo Asiedu, Head of the Office of Students with Special Needs (OSSN), welcomed all to the ceremony and said the Office was pleased to have such a facility set up for the students. She commended Kimathi and Partners for fulfilling their promise and wished them well in all their endeavours.
