Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo has made donations to some victims of the recent fire outbreak at the Dome Market in Ga East Municipality of Accra. The gesture was to lighten the burden of the affected traders.Adwoa Safo made undisclosed cash donation and some items to about ten of the victims, who were badly affected by the inferno.The Dome market was gutted by fire a couple of weeks ago, destroying property worth hundreds of thousands of Ghana Cedis.The MP, who said she had to cut short her trip abroad upon hearing news of the incident, was at the market to assess the impact of the disaster as well as encouraged the traders the traders not to give up on their source of livelihood.As a measure to help resuscitate the businesses of those who were affected the most, Adwoa Safo presented them with a number of students’ mattresses and as cash as start-up capital, for them to begin their businesses again.Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament has urged the government to adequately resource the Fire Service and other allied organizations to enhance their responses to emergencies.She bemoaned the erratic and incessant fire outbreaks that that have hit most major markets in recent times and called on the various Assemblies to help stem the tide.The traders on their part expressed gratitude to the MP for the gesture.
