Firemen swiftly put out a fire that gutted a shop at Pig Farm in Accra Thursday night, preventing what could have been another fire disaster in the metropolis.
It is not clear how the fire started but eyewitnesses said they saw smoke billowing out of one of the shops in a one-storey building housing about 14 shops.
Joy News’ Adelaide Arthur who was at the scene said all items in the affected shop - known as Delores boutique and doubles as a cosmetics shop - got burnt.
She said there was no one in the building at the time the fire started since businesses had closed.
According to eyewitnesses, Adelaide said, firemen reached the scene within minutes and managed to extinguish it without any difficulty. This has not been the case with other fire outbreaks in recent times.
Police personnel were also around to control the crowd.
