Past and present teachers of Achimota School were honoured on Teachers Day which occasion took place over the weekend.
The event dubbed "Teachers Appreciation Day" was organised by the Old Achimota Association 1993 (OAA93) year group.
The event, which is an annual mandatory event for each year group had the theme "A call for teachers."
For this year's event, the OAA93 year group honoured a former headmaster, Robert Asiedu and two former assistant heads. More than 50 teachers who taught in Achimota school at the time were appreciated; those who are deceased were recognised posthumously.
The current headmistress Mrs. Beatrice Adom also received recognition on behalf of the current teaching staff who were not left out of the event held at the achimota school club house.
Former biology teacher Mr. Wuver said "thank you for making us proud as teachers" while a current teacher at the school who taught members of the group Mr. Asamoah nicknamed "Bokasa" said "the event is a good one and we apprieciate itl".
OAA93 President, Edward Osafo said the members of the year group were grateful to the teachers for the knowledge they imparted into them when they were students.
He said the guidance of the teachers had had such profound influence on their lives that they were able to, in diverse ways, contribute to making the Ghanaian society a better one.
The OAA93 year group is the joint group of students who completed the O'Level and the first batch of Senior Secondary School graduands.
