The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) has allayed public fears over the implementation of the supposed Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE).
This comes after President Nana Akufo-Addo stated emphatically that there will be no introduction of any subject that will negatively affect the moral upbringing of children.
Prof. Rev. Professor Frimpong Manso, Chairman of the Council said, “No CSE. It’s not his idea; it’s not his policy. It is not happening. So we trust our president...ceasefire…”
He added “...all of us must ceasefire because CSE is not taking place…I believe in my president, so no CSE.”
The GPCC, an organisation made up of over 200 church denominations in Ghana, has described the plan to begin teaching CSE in all public schools to children from five years upwards as satanic.
The CSE has been deemed inappropriate as conservative groups such as the Ghana Christian Council, Occupy Ghana, GPCC and the Ghana Parent Teacher’s Association amongst others.
They say the policy will lead to the introduction of LGBTI in the country.
But President Akuffo Addo, while addressing members of the St. Cyprians Anglican Church in Kumasi over the weekend assured Ghanaians that the CSE will not be introduced under his government because it is against his religious values.
Rev. Professor Frimpong Manso is optimistic that with this assurance, the policy will not be introduced.
