An auto Mechanic from Old-Tafo in Kumasi, Emmanuel Afful has been bonded to be of good behaviour for six months for unlawfully harming One Mr Kofi Asiamah.
Afful, who pleaded guilty, was convicted on his own plea by the Assin Fosu district magistrate’s court, and would go to prison for six months in default.
The court also ordered Afful to pay a restitution fee and a compensation of GH¢50.00 to Mr Asiamah.
Prosecuting, Superintendent Godact Hlordzi told the court presided over by Mr Joseph Blay that Afful is a sprayer, resident in Kumasi and Mr Asiamah a farmer at Assin Nyankomasi and that there was a misunderstanding between Afful’s wife and Mr Asiamah at Assin Nyankomasi.
He said as result, Mrs Afful travelled to Kumasi to inform her husband that Mr Asamoah had assaulted her and that on January 4, 2008 Afful came to Nyankomasi and confronted Mr Asiamah on the wife’s allegation.
He said Mr Afful then pounced on Asiamah with blows and also used a stick to hit (Mr Asiamah) head, resulting in a deep cut.
Superintendent Hlordzi said Mr Asiamah was rescued by a passer-by and the matter later reported to Foso Police.
He said Afful sensing danger disappeared from the town and reported the case to the Old Tafo Police station in Kumasi, but was referred to the Assin Foso Police station and when he reported there, he was arrested and charged with the offence.
