Two persons at the weekend got trapped in an articulator truck for four hours when the vehicle fell into a ditch, near the Regional Coordinating Council offices in Sunyani, the police have said.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Ansu Frimpong of the Regional Motor Transport and Traffic Unit told the Ghana News Agency the vehicle, with registration number GR 7120 M was loaded with about 800 bags of cement which it was conveying from Kumasi towards Berekum.
He said on reaching a steep point in the Sunyani town, the engine of the vehicle went off, causing the vehicle to reverse and fall into the ditch.
ASP Frimpong said the victims, Atta Kwabena, owner of the cement and Muniru Seidu, driver’s mate, were asleep when the accident occurred around 0400 hours.
When the police and personnel of Ghana National Fire Service got to the scene the driver came out but the two were still locked up in the cowl.
He said for close to four hours, the two remained trapped until a skipper machine was brought in to free them after which they were sent to the regional hospital.
