Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper Kwesi Pratt Jnr has attributed Black Stars' World Cup loss to the USA to poor concentration in defense and the lack of motivation in the team.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo on Tuesday, the political commentator waded into sports after he lamented the poor sense of awareness amongst the defenders and questioned the lack of intense vigour he believed, characterizes the Ghana team.
Ghana Black Stars played the Yanks of America in a Group clash on Monday night at Estadio das Dunas in Natal. They lost by two goals to one.
The Yanks first opened scoring after captain Clint Dempsey fired home a shocker within 32 seconds into the game.
The Stars fought back courageously to equalize after Dede Ayew found the back of the net just 8 minutes before stoppage time.
His equalizer gave Ghana a glimmer of hope until a late 86th minute-header from American defender, John Brooks snuffed out any chance of Ghana walking out with a point.
Ghana now faces a tougher German opposition followed by Portugal.
Joining an army of distraught fans, Kwesi Pratt said Ghana “lost due to lack of concentration within the defense
He also noted that the American team were more poised and prepared for the match, judging from their appearance.
“The American team was ready for the match...did you see their appearance when they were coming out from the dressing room?”, he further asked.
Black Stars coach Kwesi has also admitted poor concentration cost Ghana the game. He pointed out, Clint Dempsey's early goal took his team by surprise and affected his tactics.
"We expected playing at this level we cannot make these errors and it worried us. It was a lapse in concentration. I never expected the game to end in this way," Appiah, said in the post match press conference.
