Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called on the Nigerian government to investigate allegations of attacks on properties belonging to Ghanaian business mogul Sir Sam Jonah.
The minister made the appeal when he received the letters of credence of Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate to Ghana, Shehu Ilu Barde, during a meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Mr Ablakwa urged the envoy to look into concerns surrounding Sir Sam Jonah’s Mobus Properties in Nigeria, stressing the need to protect investments and sustain investor confidence across borders.
According to him, safeguarding investments is critical to promoting stronger economic ties between Ghana and Nigeria.

In response, the High Commissioner-designate assured the Foreign Affairs Minister that he would examine the matter and engage the appropriate authorities and stakeholders over the concerns raised about the properties.
The meeting also focused on deepening economic cooperation between Ghana and Nigeria, with discussions centred on expanding cross-border trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Mr Ablakwa called for the removal of trade barriers between the two countries to boost bilateral trade and unlock greater economic opportunities.
He further urged Nigeria and other ECOWAS member states to build confidence in the proposed ECO single currency, describing it as an important step towards enhancing regional trade and economic integration.
For his part, Mr Barde expressed appreciation to the Government of Ghana for the warm reception and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
