Introducing Yard Bird – where American-style diner food meets Ghanaian spice within a fun and funky environment.
With the finest fried chicken in Ghana on the menu, plus spicy sides and sauces, house cocktails and a “Secret DJ” sound system, the Yard Bird brand concept has been created by The Gorgeous Group for Yolo Experiences and will be offering something entirely new for West Africa – accessible, fresh and affordable fast food restaurants, with wide cross-generational appeal and where customers can enjoy the most delicious food and drinks, engaging interiors, speciality added extras and great music.
Designed to appeal to all – local workers and families, cocktail-lovers, tourists, students, young professionals and street-food fans - and serving both eat-in and takeaway, Yard Bird will offer the house speciality of fried chicken blended with their own spice shake (specially developed by renowned chef Andrew DiCataldo).
The chicken itself is sourced from the very best that is globally available and will be accompanied by home-made sauces and mouth-watering sides including spicy rice, cornbread, crispy fried okra and Creole black eyed peas.
House cocktails will include fresh lemonade and Yard Bird’s secret special ‘Moonshine Hardshakes’ alcoholic milkshakes! Yard Bird will also offer great value for money and versatility, with meal deals, family dishes and single, working lunches all available to take away or eat in.
Guests waiting in the take away area will be able to enjoy a game of table football, make use of the Yard Bird photo booth and have their picture placed on the Wall of Memories or text the ‘Secret DJ’ app (introduced to Ghana for the first time) to hear their current favourite track played on the Yard Bird juke box.
The playlist will be modern and upbeat and has been specially designed with the local market in mind and the playful, bright interior scheme has been created by Glasgow-based designers, Graven Images, based on the The Gorgeous Group’s original concept, and encourages interaction between guests and the Yard Bird team.
Packaging is bold and eye-catching and uniforms and branded napkins all deliver fun slogans, including the invitation for guests to become “Part of the clean plates club” and a “Bonified Member since 2014”!
Yard Bird restaurants are due to launch in Accra on 15th August, 2014, the first located on the Accra’s Spintex Road and the second in Osu.
Both restaurants will cater for over 100 covers, with eat in and takeaway available all day and home delivery is also planned for phase two of the project.
