The 1994 year group of Kumasi Academy has donated 30 toilet seats to the school to help finish the girls’ toilet project which is under construction.

This gesture by the old students was in remembrance of twenty years after leaving the school and also in appreciation of the contribution the school has made in their lives.

The group comprised a section of old students of the last batch who are currently based in Ghana, United Kingdom, Belarus, Dubai and United States of America.

The presentation ceremony was attended by a section of the Ghanaian based counterparts of the group, the national president of the Kumasi Academy old Students Association Dr. K. Dapaah-Siakwan, the headmistress Mrs. Eunice Appiah-Nkansah, the teaching and non-teaching staff as well as the student body.

Presenting the toilet seats to the school on behalf of the old students, Dr. Dapaah-Siakwan said: “I believe the girls will be laughing because they are no more going to go use ‘congo’ but a decent place of convenience from now onwards”.

He commended the 1994 year group for using social media to organize themselves for the project, which noted is the new way of re-organizing old students from around the world and used the opportunity to remind other groups to emulate their example. He also took the opportunity to remind all year groups and the general old student association body that the main objective of the association is to complete the science lab which is under construction and present it to the school on the 60^th Anniversary in 2017.

The headmistress who received the items on behalf of the school thanked the 1994 year group and commended the uniqueness of the Kumasi Academy Old Students Association body.

“This is one of the red letter days of this great school and when the history of this school is being written, this day would be remembered.” she said.

She noted: “This is the first time a year group has done anything of such nature”.
