The Western region is likely to experience heavy rains this year because of the "Long range of the harmattan," an official of the Regional Office of the Metrological Services Department has said. The official who spoke on condition of anonymity said the rains would begin especially along the coastal belt as soon as the harmattan ends.He said, "There are more clouds forming with thunderstorms over the region".
The official said heavy rains have begun in the region’s hinterland including Enchi, Bogoso, and Dompim Number One and in the Wassa Akropong area.
He advised farmers not rush to plant crops until the rains start because they could be destroyed.Source: ghanadistricts
