A cape Coast circuit court on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, remanded Kwesi Tally, a 37-year old unemployed man in custody for allegedly robbing a female teacher at knifepoint.
His plea was not taken and was remanded to reappear on Tuesday, April 17 to enable the prosecution conduct further investigations into the case.
Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court presided over by Beresford Acquah that last Saturday at about 1930hrs, the teacher Ms Edith Annobil, was walking home with her daughter around the Christian Eye Clinic, near the industrial area in Cape Coast when the suspect walked past them.
He alleged that when the suspect realised that there was no one in sight he pulled out a knife and attacked Ms Enobil and threatened to stab her if she does not surrender her hand bag containing a wrist watch valued at 2.5 million cedis, a jewellery box and other valuables together with a cash of 500,000 cedis, which she obliged.
Chief Inspector Amonoo said Ms Annobil raised an alarm afterwards, Tally bolted and was given a hot chase but managed to escape.
He said a witness who knew the suspect, led the police to his house at Adisadel village, a suburb of Cape Coast and was arrested.
