The Kanda chapter of Rotary Club of Accra in fulfilment of its newly introduced seventh area of focus as a club has embarked on a tree planting exercise in support of the environment.
The project, an activity to mark the end of the club’s calendar year, saw the planting of about 20 travelers palm trees at the premises of the Ministry of Information in Accra, and presented to the Minister of Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

The Immediate Past President (IPP) Henrietta Oppong, who led the club for her final project as a leader, said the exercise is in accordance with the club’s mandate to support and protect the environment it was necessary to embark on the project.
“We serve above self…we thought it wise to come and beautify your place”, she said.
Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah acknowledging the gesture also expressed appreciation for the club and its works.

“We are happy, generally to have rotary with us, and also specifically for the initiatives they are putting down here,” the Offoase Ayeribi MP said.
He also assured the club that the plants would be well taken care of to provide the purposes for which they were planted.
The Club which was also led by its newly elected president, highlife legend Rex Omar, presented its four-way test signage to the minister.

The signage which will be stationed at the premise of the Information Ministry, according to the club will serve as a constant reminder to both staff and Minister to do, think and say the right things in their line of work as the first points of call for vital information to the country.
