Africa World Airlines (AWA) has instructed all passengers on its international flights to possess a negative Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test result prior to departure as it resumes international flights between Accra and five other regional capitals.
Management directs that the PCR test result report should be dated no more than 72 hours prior to the scheduled departure of their first flight (electronic or hard copy format is acceptable – but it must clearly provide the identity of the person tested).
This directive is part of measures put in place in relation to Covid-19 protocols.
Aside the PCR test result, AWA requires that all passengers adhere to the entire check in, boarding and checkout procedures to mitigate the rate of the coronavirus infection.
According to communiqué issued, all passengers must wear a face mask at all times while in the airport and onboard the aircraft, passengers will be subject to screening for Covid-19 symptoms prior to boarding, including thermal screening and passengers should be in possession of personal hand sanitizer in containers not to exceed 100ml.
Again, the airline instructed that “hand luggage is strictly limited to one piece weighing no more than five kilogrammes and no external food or drink may be brought on board or consumed on board”.
Africa World Airlines started trips from Accra to Lagos on September 11, 2020 and will be having flights to Lagos five times a week.
Trips to Abuja will begin on September 12, 2020 with four trips per week.
Trips to Freetown and Monrovia will begin from September 13, 2020 with three trips per week.
Lastly, trips to Abidjan will begin from September 15, 2020 with four trips per week.
