Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram constituency, Sam Nartey George has called upon Roads Minister, Mr. Kwesi Amoako Attah to construct the Ningo-Prampram-Ada road.
According to him, he has reached out to the nominee on several occasions to construct the road, however, Mr Attah is yet to do it.
“...the minister nominee for roads is very nice, he will speak to you in a very nice way, however, your road will never be done," he said.
Mr George urged that the Minister-designate prioritise fixing the stretch because it is an extremely important road, "a major road that opens up a whole region and runs through my constituency".
That notwithstanding, he stated that for the issue of roads to be fully addressed, the next Finance Minister should consider the situation as worrying and commit funds into the construction of the stretch along with other roads across the country.
“It is my hope that whoever becomes Finance Minister would commit money to the minister nominee for roads who is busy talking to his whip to get money so that he can not only be nice when I go to him and complain about the main road.
Mr Amoako Attah when he appeared before Parliaments Appointment Committee said he was doing the best he could with the resources available to him.
He stated that last year, at least 1200 kilometres of asphalt overlays were completed in fulfilment of President Akufo-Addo’s declaration of 2020 as the “Year of Roads”.
Additionally, the Ministry of Roads and Highways said he was able to complete surface dressing on 55 road projects, translating into over 20,000km of roads, and constructed six interchanges and bridges across the country.
However, Mr George said unless the nominee gets "money and you pay the contractors" to fix the Ningo-Prampram and Ada stretch, the nominee should not expect any praise of hard work from him".
