A 22-year-old female Psychology and Philosophy student was on Thursday elected President of the Students Representative Council of the University of Ghana.
Ms Louise Carol Serwaah Donkor polled 60.5 percent of votes to become the first ever woman SRC President since the University was established some 59 years ago.
The third year student held off a stiff first round challenge from Mr. Christian Kwabena Ansah who had polled 22.3 percent of votes as against Ms Donkor’s 23.7.
Eight other males had contested the elections, before it went into the second round.
Two women had previously held the position, albeit in acting capacities.
