The Principal of the EP College of Education, Dr Dickson Tsey has expressed concern over some teachers and lecturers' reluctance to work on articles for publication.
The situation, according to him, has become worrying and must be resolved as soon as possible.
Dr Tsey made the comments at the research workshop for senior members and staff of the college.
According to him, promotions will no longer be based on the number of years in service but a tutor's worth will be judged by the number of books and articles written and published.
“Tutors will no longer be promoted by the number of years of service and or promotion interviews as done by the Ghana Education Service but rather your worth as a tutor will be judged by the number of books and articles you are able to publish," he stated.
Dr Tsey described it as disappointing that only two senior tutors in the college have so far been able to work and publish their articles and books.
He said he is determined to change the narrative of the school by making sure that tutors develop a positive attitude towards article and book publication.
"It is disappointing for me to note that there are only two senior tutors who have worked on their articles and books for publication and I want to change the narrative of AMECO," he said.
A second workshop, according to Dr Tsey would be organised to help build the capacity of tutors in improving their writing skills for their publication and subsequent promotion.
He also urged lecturers to change their attitudes towards the article publication, allocate time and work on their books.
The lead facilities for the workshop, Prof F.K. Amedahe (formerly of UCC) who took the participants through said it is in the best interest of the tutors to dedicate quality time for writing as it would help them in achieving their aims.
Dean of Graduate School for the Ho Technical University, Dr Maxwell Akple encouraged the tutors to take the lessons seriously and put them to good use.
