Member of Parliament for Techiman South in the Bono East Region, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah has handed over newly constructed boreholes to some 17 communities in his constituency to improve access to potable water.
According to him, his dream of ensuring that every part of the constituency gets a portable water source by the end of his first term is gradually becoming a reality.
The MP during the commissioning said he was determined to help the health authorities to tackle water-borne diseases in the area.
“During my campaign, one of the major challenges which caught my attention was the lack of potable water in these communities. Some even walk for miles before getting access to water," he noted.
According to him, he promised to provide 17 boreholes, with about 10 mechanised ones.
Five (5) has been made ready for commissioning with the others to follow next week, the communities with completed water source include; Bomene, Woraso, Atabuorso and Panhosu.
The Techiman South MP noted that some good amount of money was being invested into the water projects, and assured the people of his resolve to ensure all the various planned water projects were made ready and commissioned in his first term as a Member of Parliament for the constituency.
Alongside the commissioning was the provision of fertiliser for farmers in the entire constituency to aid their farming activities.
The beneficiary Communities as well as the others all received 20 bags of fertilizer each as support for their farming work. One Thousand (1200) bags of fertilizer is earmarked for distribution in the first phase of the program.
Nana Kwaku Antwi, Chief of Atabourso, commended the MP for his efforts towards the provision of potable water which he said had been a major concern for them for many years.
He further advised Mr. Adjei-Mensah Korsah to continue to exhibit humility and assured that the people would support him due to his kind-heartedness towards the needy and deprived in society.
